Insulation Treatment
Insulation Treatment of a Wound Rotor
One of the critical steps in electric motor maintenance is the proper treatment of windings — especially in high-demand environments where durability and reliability matter most.
This week, our team carried out a complete insulation procedure on a wound rotor, part of a scheduled repair process. The goal: to restore and secure the rotor’s long-term performance under operational stress.
After detailed cleaning and preparation, the rotor was immersed in varnish. This step is essential for two reasons:
Electrical insulation, to prevent internal discharge and short circuits
Mechanical reinforcement, to protect the winding from vibration and thermal cycling
Once the impregnation is complete, the rotor moves to the curing phase. In our temperature-controlled oven, the varnish is polymerized, forming a solid, protective layer that bonds tightly to the winding and frame.
These processes are part of a broader philosophy: extending the life of electric machines, rather than replacing them prematurely. It’s a combination of engineering discipline, technical expertise, and respect for the machinery we handle.
Whether for industrial motors, wound rotors, or other rotating equipment, procedures like this ensure safety, performance, and peace of mind — for many operating hours ahead.
