Hannover Messe 2015 — Integrated Industry: Join the Network

Hannover Messe 2015 has just wrapped up in Hannover, Germany. Under the theme “Integrated Industry – Join the Network”, this edition solidified the arrival of Industry 4.0 as more than a concept — it’s now shaping how manufacturing, automation, and power transmission work together in practice.

What Made Hannover Messe 2015 Stand Out

  • More than 220,000 visitors, including roughly 70,000 from outside Germany, came to see the latest in industrial automation, smart energy systems, and connected production.

  • Around 6,500 exhibitors from 70+ countries showcased breakthroughs in industrial automation, energy efficiency, R&D, and digital factory innovations.

  • India joined as the Partner Country, bringing a strong national presence and spotlighting its growing industrial tech capabilities and global collaborations.

Why This Matters

This year’s show sent a clear message: networks matter. Whether between machines, data systems, or companies — connections are no longer optional; they’re essential. From smart sensors to energy management and from collaborative robotics to digital manufacturing, many technologies that were once on the horizon are now ready for deployment.

Cement Plant

High-Power Medium Voltage Motors Delivered as Drop-in Replacements

In November, we delivered two high-performance medium-voltage electric motors to a cement plant, following a request for fully interchangeable spare units. To meet the requirements, both motors were developed through complete reverse engineering, ensuring that every detail—mechanical and electrical—matched the client’s original specifications.

Delivered units:

  • 2400 kW, 6 poles, 4.16 kV, 50 Hz, IC616, Frame size 560

    • Inverter duty motor

  • 900 kW, 6 poles, 4.16 kV, 50 Hz, IC611, Frame size 500

    • Slip ring motor

Both motors are now on-site as operational-ready spares, providing immediate backup capability for critical cement plant operations.

This project reflects our ability to deliver custom, high-power motor solutions designed to integrate seamlessly into existing infrastructure—especially in industries where downtime is not an option.

Load Test with Coupled Machines — Thessaloniki Facility

At our premises in Thessaloniki, we recently performed a full load test using two identical electric motors, mechanically coupled to simulate real operating conditions.

This testing method — often referred to as back-to-back testing — allows us to evaluate the performance, thermal behavior, vibration response, and mechanical balance of the tested unit with high accuracy and full control over load parameters.

The setup involved:

  • Two matched machines, operating as motor and generator

  • Controlled load conditions, monitored throughout the test

  • Real-time data acquisition, including current, voltage, torque, temperature, and vibration

This procedure is used to confirm both the quality of the motor under test and the robustness of its application-specific configuration, especially in demanding industrial environments. The test helps us verify alignment, cooling performance, mechanical integrity, and the response under sustained load — long before the motor is ever installed on-site.

Tests like these are a key part of our commitment to ensuring trouble-free commissioning and maximum reliability in the field.

Medium Voltage Reverse Engineered Motors Delivered and Running

In June, we successfully completed the delivery of two medium-voltage electric motors to a power plant, following an international tender in which Valiadis S.A. was selected as the best bidder.

The motors—designed to replace existing equipment—were supplied as spare units and required full reverse engineering to match the mechanical and performance specifications of the originals. After delivery, both motors were installed and are now operating with excellent results.

Delivered units:

  • 630 kW, 8 poles, Frame size 560, 6.3 kV

  • 280 kW, 8 poles, Frame size 450, 6.3 kV

This project is yet another example of our expertise in supplying customized medium-voltage solutions—especially when exact replication is required to ensure seamless integration with legacy infrastructure.
