Heat-Proof Precision

Heat-Proof Precision for Steel Operations
Slip-Ring Motors with Brakes for High-Temperature Environments

We recently delivered three specialized slip-ring motors with brakes, designed specifically for steel industry applications where ambient temperatures can reach up to 70°C.

Operating in such harsh conditions requires more than standard industrial motors. These units were engineered with:

  • Class H insulation materials, offering superior thermal resistance

  • High-temperature brake component treatments, ensuring consistent braking performance

  • Slip-ring design, ideal for high starting torque and controlled acceleration—critical in heavy-duty steel operations

Each motor is tailored for reliability and durability under continuous thermal stress, providing safe, repeatable performance in environments where standard motors would quickly fail.

Key Features:

  • Custom thermal design rated for up to 70°C ambient temperature

  • Braked slip-ring configuration for dynamic and safe operation

  • Application-specific build quality for the steel manufacturing sector

From material handling to process-critical lifting, these motors represent a robust solution in some of the most demanding industrial environments.

HV Impulse Generator

Maintenance of High-Voltage Impulse Generator for Insulation Testing

Impulse voltage generators are critical tools in high-voltage laboratories. They produce short-duration, high-energy pulses that mimic natural phenomena such as lightning strikes or switching transients. These pulses are applied to transformers, insulators, cables, and other power system components to verify that their insulation systems meet safety and durability standards.

The generator in question is still actively used in a high-voltage test facility. Its continued performance depends on careful maintenance due to the high stresses involved in impulse generation and the ageing of insulation materials over time.

The scope of our work included:

  • Internal inspection and cleaning of the stator windings

  • Assessment of insulation condition, including insulation resistance and dielectric absorption testing

  • Servicing of excitation systems, bushings, and auxiliary devices

Work was carried out on-site, with special precautions due to the size and configuration of the unit. All measurements were documented, and post-maintenance checks confirmed safe and stable operation.

This project highlights the ongoing need to support legacy test equipment, which continues to play a vital role in the development and certification of power transmission infrastructure.

Patras, Greece, 1951

BULLETIN

NEWS

Patras, Greece, 1951
Looking Back

The Christmas season had just ended—then, as now. In early January 1951, the city of Patras, with a population of 87,570, was slowly shaking off the festive stillness and returning to its daily rhythm. The people were eager to catch up with life: reconnecting, exchanging news, and setting their hopes on progress.

The local press captured the moment. Doctors and freelancers advertised their services, merchants promoted their goods, and a reporter filed a dispatch from Frankfurt, in what was then Western Germany, describing U.S. aid efforts helping a battered continent recover.

But 1951 marked more than just the end of a holiday. It marked the first steps forward after a global war. Greece was rebuilding. Industries were trying to regain momentum—and at 133 Maizonos Street, K. P. Yannakopoulos was doing his part. He promoted Valiadis Motors to support production and supply chains in a society still rising from the ashes of conflict.

It was Monday, January 8, 1951—a day like any other, yet filled with determination to begin again.

Cooling Tower Fan Motors

Cooling Tower Fan Motors: Built to Withstand the Elements
Repair, Upgrade, and Protection for Harsh Operating Conditions

Cooling towers are notoriously tough environments for electric motors. They operate in areas saturated with moisture, elevated temperatures, and constant exposure to corrosive air—all of which accelerate wear, rust, and premature failure.

That’s why these twin fan motors are undergoing targeted modifications by our repairs and service department, ensuring they’ll stand up to the challenge and keep running year-round with confidence.

Key environmental challenges:

  • Moisture & humidity: High exposure to evaporated water and wet air

  • Elevated temperatures: Close proximity to hot process water

  • Corrosive atmosphere: Saturated air increases material degradation

What we’re doing:

  • Specialized anti-corrosion treatments

  • Enhanced sealing and insulation

  • Thermal upgrades for better performance in high ambient heat

  • Preventive maintenance steps to maximize service life

Our mission: Prevent failure before it starts, and help our customers operate with peace of mind—even in the toughest environments.

Power Ultrasonic Parts Cleaning
High-Frequency Cleaning Technology for Motor Longevity – Powered by UltraTecno

Before repairs begin, cleaning motor parts thoroughly is more than a good practice—it’s essential. Over time, components like rotors, bearings, cooling fins, and terminal blocks accumulate a mix of dirt, grease, oil, carbon deposits, and even residue from prior repairs.

Conventional cleaning methods often fall short—especially when it comes to fine geometries, internal passages, and hard-to-reach surfaces.

That’s where ultrasonic cleaning comes in.

Using high-frequency sound waves, this technique generates microscopic bubbles in a cleaning solution. As the bubbles collapse (a process known as cavitation), they gently and effectively remove contaminants—even from the most intricate surfaces—without damaging the part.

Benefits of ultrasonic cleaning:

  • Penetrates tight crevices and internal passages

  • Removes a wide range of contaminants, including grease, carbon, and rust

  • Safe for delicate parts

  • Environmentally friendly and chemical-efficient

  • Reduces the need for part replacement

  • Increases motor lifespan and efficiency

Whether used during routine servicing or as part of major overhauls, ultrasonic cleaning is a cost-effective way to preserve the health and performance of electric motors.

This is maintenance innovation—delivered by Valiadis S.A.

Ready-to-Wind
Built in Advance, Wound on Demand

Some projects can’t wait for long production cycles—and others require highly specific winding configurations. That’s why we keep a dedicated stock of complete motors without winding, giving us the flexibility to respond quickly and precisely to our clients’ specialized needs.

This is not a repair program—these are brand-new, unwound motors, fully assembled and stored in our facility, ready to be adapted on short notice. Whether you need:

  • 500V motors

  • Double-speed motors

  • Three-speed motors

  • Or other custom winding solutions

…we’re equipped to wind to spec and deliver without delay.

By separating the production of the mechanical body from the winding process, we reduce lead times while maintaining full control over customization. This approach enables us to serve clients faster, reduce waste, and respond to diverse project needs—from one-offs to repeat orders.

It’s a smart inventory strategy—designed with your flexibility in mind.
