Reverse Engineering – KHV560 MV

Another reverse engineering project has been successfully completed, adding one more medium-voltage motor to our portfolio of custom-engineered machines.

The project involved the manufacture of a KHV560-2 motor, rated at 335 kW, 2 poles, 6.6 kV / 50 Hz, in B3 horizontal mounting, with IC511 cooling and a service factor of 1.15.

Following completion of the manufacturing and testing stages, the motor was prepared for export.

High-Speed Medium Voltage Design

The motor was designed as a 2-pole medium-voltage machine, operating at the synchronous speed associated with a two-pole, 50 Hz supply.

Applications of this type require careful attention to both the electrical and mechanical characteristics of the motor. Rotor construction, balance, cooling performance, and structural rigidity all contribute to reliable operation at higher rotational speeds.

The use of IC511 cooling forms part of the overall design, providing an independent ventilation arrangement suited to demanding industrial applications.

Reverse Engineering

Every reverse engineering project begins with the existing installation and the operating conditions of the machine to be replaced.

Electrical characteristics, mechanical interfaces, mounting dimensions, cooling arrangements, and installation constraints are evaluated before engineering work begins. The resulting motor is then manufactured to match the requirements of the application while complying with current production and testing standards.

Each project introduces its own combination of technical requirements. Frame size, voltage level, cooling method, mounting arrangement, and operating speed all influence the final design.

The motor successfully completed the full sequence of engineering, manufacturing, testing, and export preparation before shipment.
